A Randomized Comparison of NeoCart® to Microfracture for the Repair of Articular Cartilage Injuries in the Knee
In the knee joints, the ends of bones are covered in a firm and durable tissue called articular cartilage. This tissue allows the bones to move smoothly over one another, promoting painless mobility for the knee joints. Cartilage can become damaged from athletics, traumatic injury and normal wear and tear. Unfortunately, damaged cartilage has a limited ability to repair or restore itself. If left untreated, it might worsen and lead to chronic conditions.
NeoCart ® is an investigational cartilage tissue implant used to treat certain knee cartilage injuries. The procedure uses regenerative medicine technology to create tissue that acts like natural cartilage from a patient’s own cells.
